Personal interview with Company's manager now elicits the fact that exact amount of stone seized appears to be unknown. There were at time when embargo was instituted 71,000 tons quarri- -ed ready for delivery; unfulfilled contracts on that date amount- -ed to 152,750 tons (see my despatch No. 30 of October 18). Company now will only agree to waive their claim of approximately 880,000 to $100,000 if contractors are free to fulfil balance of their
contracta,
Further contracts to be subject to arrangement outlined in your telegram of November 7, details of which however local Government have not yet furnished me.
While attitude of Company as outlined in Vice-Consul's despatch of November 25 is uncompromising and unsatisfactory I would suggest that abandonmant of claim justifies pressing fulfil-
-ment of contracts.
